The Apostle Peter states that we “are born again to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading” (1 Peter 1:4)
HOW DOES THIS TRUTH IMPACT YOUR DAILY WALK WITH THE LORD AND ONE ANOTHER TODAY?
Once again, thanks for all the answers and some questions. It is a great blessing to me personally to know that you have spent time in the Word of God and have discussed the questions throughout the week with fellow believers.
Here is a summary of the answers given:
1. Most responses included the following Scripture verses: 1 Peter 1:4; Ephesians 1:1; Matthew 6:19-20; Revelation 21:27; Ephesians 1:11; Colossians 1:9-12; 1 Thessalonians 5:11-18; 1 Peter 3:15, Psalm 118:6; Hebrews 13:5; 1 Corinthians 15:55; Lamentation 3:22-26; Romans 8:14;
2. One person wrote: “This truth has given me the hope I have in the coming life we as believers will share with Christ and how the mercies of God never fail me, and His compassion is never-ending. It is such a comfort to know that even though I am a sinner God still loves me and wants me to be a part of His family. In Romans 8:14 it speaks about us as heirs with Christ and the suffering of the present are nothing in comparison. Not only that but it also speaks about eagerly waiting for the redemption of our body and the hope we have in something unseen.”
3. Another person wrote: “When we understand and value the glory that awaits us, we are better able to endure whatever comes our way in this life. Because of our knowledge that our inheritance as God’s children is eternal, full of glory, and secured forever, we can walk with confidence and assurance. This gives us the ability to tell others what we KNOW, how they can also obtain it. This evidence will hopefully shine from us so that others will see it and want it too. Even in our tests and trials, we have every reason to rejoice”.
While this question for the week seemed to be on the surface like any other, I had something specifically in mind. Let me share what I mean. Many Christians have heard plenty of “Biblical teachings” regarding the subject of our inheritance, our forthcoming everlasting joy in the presence of God and His angels. What we most of the time don’t see is the truth OF GOD’S ULTIMATE GOAL, RESTORATION, SEEKING AND SAVING THAT WHICH WAS LOST. That includes all His creation. Remember, God started with Adam and Eve by creating them and placing them into the Garden of Eden. The mandate was very clear; “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. AND LET THEM HAVE DOMINION OVER THE FISH OF THE SEA AND EVER THE BIRDS OF THE HEAVENS AND OVER THE LIVESTOCK AND OVER ALL THE EARTH and over every creeping thin that creeps on the earth” (Genesis 1:26). This was the beginning and whatever the Lord starts He will finish. We all know what happened when Adam and Eve decided to follow someone else’s advice. The imagers of God lost paradise, had to forsake the Garden of Eden and wander in the wilderness, called earth at this time. God would one day rectify the sin problem with the BIRTH, LIFE, DEATH AND RESURRECTION of Jesus Christ. This opened the door for those who would believe in Him to once again become true IMAGERS of God through Jesus Christ. As such representatives (aka imagers) we would proclaim this GOOD NEWS to all the nations. Those who chose to believe in Him shall be transferred into His kingdom, which at this time is still an invisible kingdom, not of this earth. But all this will change one day.
Daniel almost 700 years before Jesus walked this earth, was privileged to watch what was going on in the throne room of God. He wrote the vision down in chapter 7.
This is such an incredible revelation it takes your breath away. Daniel 7:9-10
“As I looked, thrones were placed, and the Ancient of Days took his seat; his clothing was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool; his throne was fiery flames; its wheels were burning fire. A stream of fire issued and came of from before him; a thousand thousands served him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him; the court sat in judgment, and the books were opened.
Daniel 7:13-14
I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him. And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all Peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.
Here is my takeaway. With such an incredible inheritance, a kingdom that cannot be destroyed, a totally restored earth under the dominion of the king of kings and lord of lords where all the Peoples, nations and languages will serve Him, and we are HIS SONS AND DAUGHTERS, HIS FAMILY, how can we not proclaim such GOOD NEWS TO A WORLD THAT IS STILL IN DARKNESS?
Such incredible news should motivate us every day to share this GOOD NEWS with everyone we meet.
